NEW ITEMS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE STORE:
Welcome to Breadroot!
When you shop here, you can have more control of your food buying - and more responsibility.
Breadroot Cooperative is a community of people centered on food. "Food First" is part of our ever-evolving motto. Good food at fair prices is our goal.
We do that by operating a retail business, which allows us to establish wholesale relations with anyone from local farmers to national distributors. Members can take part in our ordering process and save on costs while becoming better informed about where and how their food is produced.
"Special orders" are a great way to save on goods you use a lot of, or products like supplements and personal care items, whose wholesale prices are raised substantially by most stores. The Co-op's store serves as a distribution point for orders and a place to get produce and things you buy a few at a time.
The Co-operative provides a framework in which people contribute labor, tools, capital, ideas, and more to make this happen. Membership is open to individuals, families, businesses, clubs and other groups. The cost is $20 per year. See Bylaws for details, and Membership for an application to fill out and bring or mail to the store.
Our Co-op is named for a native bean whose esculent roots are gathered in June from area prairies. It is a natural example of the endurance and sustainability we strive to achieve.
