Happy New Year! If you are looking to improve your health and your wallet at the same time, look no further! Our REACH program features 12 "super foods" avaiable at cost. We offer this program as a way to strengthen our community, with an emphasis on optimal nutrition. The REACH discounts apply to everyone, even non-members! So tell your friends and neighbors where they can get the healthiest food at fair prices.

REACH items include: raw almonds, Romaine lettuce, kale, grapefruit, flax seeds, alfalfa sprouting seeds, short-grain brown rice, dried navy beans, dried plums, kelp flakes, yams, (I am still missing somethig - is it granny smith apples?)

Breadroot's Member Appreciation Day is Tuesday December 13th. Swissmar kitchen tools will be demonstrated, and various food samples will be featured throughout the store.

Bread from the Wild Goose Bakery has been wildy popular at the Farmer's Markets in Rapid City and Spearfish, and is now available at Breadroot. Delivered every Friday, the family bakery features the finest ingredients (organic-as-possible) and gourmet recipes. Take home a loaf, or place your special order online at www.wildgoosebakery.com

Events

Join us to discuss Vitamin D Deficiency - which is common in the winter months and related to many health and mood disorders. Learn the role of Vitamin D in your health and cell functions, symptoms of deficiency, and how to ensure adequate Vitamin D levels. The discussion will be lead by Marci Culpeper, a Breadroot volunteer with a background in Cardiology, Holistic Nutrition, and Naturopathy. The event is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 13th @ Breadroot.

Kombucha - what's that? Fermented mushroom tea (and so much more)! Join us to learn how to make your own kombucha tea, loaded with probiotics for improved digestion and vitality. The demonstration will include samples and your own culture to take home! Look for date and times later this month.

Breadroot Health Food Club - Are you interested in swapping recipes and learning more about sprouting, fermenting, and healthful cooking? A bunch of us are! Join the Breadroot-food-health email list and we'll get rolling!

All Breadroot Members receive 5% off in-store purchases and can place special orders from our suppliers via our web site, with ordering by the case at wholesale plus a $3 handling fee! Members can receive a 10% in-store discount by purchasing in-store $100 within a one-month period, or by adding $100 to your prepay account (to be used within a month). Additional savings can be earned by volunteering - Ask our friendly volunteers for details!

News groups - Breadroot has email groups to keep our community involved and aware. You can check out our selection (news, discussion, ordering, etc) and subscribe to your favorites from your log-in page (from www.breadroot.com, select member log-in and log-in with your user name and password, then go to your member information page).

Do you love Breadroot as much as we do? We could use a few more
volunteers - and as a bonus you receive a discount on in-store
purchases. We have openings for afternoon shifts as cashier, evening
shifts on Monday and Fridays to receive the produce shipments (7:30 to
9:30 PM), and Thursday morning help with receiving our dried-goods
shipment (any time on Thursday, 6AM to noon, unloading boxes, pricing
items, filling shelves, arranging the items aesthetically, packaging
bulk items, etc). Applications are available at the store.
